FPL gameweek 24 is back to a being a single gameweek.
There are a lot of teams with favourable fixtures this week. So should we still be sticking with Erling Haaland?
Let’s discuss who is the best captain for GW24.
Erling Haaland
- Fixtures: Nottingham Forest (a)
- Anytime goal: 56%
- Anytime return: 67%
Erling Haaland (£12.2m), has 25 goals and 4 assists this campaign. He tops the charts for highest xG in the premier league (20.22).
City have now scored 56 goals this season. Interestingly, this is 10 goals more than Arsenal who rank 2nd.
Once again City are favourites to score more than 2.5 goals in GW24, which only furthers the appeal to captain the Norweigen.
Additionally, Forest are missing two of their first choice centre backs in Scott McKenna and Willy Boly.
Therefore, it’s no surprise to see the Norweigan in first place on our free weekly points predictor tool.
However, if we include the likelihood of starting there’s an argument Haaland isn’t a default pick.
Marcus Rashford
- Fixtures: Leicester (H)
- Anytime goal: 42%
- Anytime return: 56%

Marcus Rashford (£7.3m) continues to make headlines after dominating FPL since the World Cup.
He tops the player form table after scoring 60 points in the last 6 games. He has registered 5 goals and 1 assist during this time.
He has now propelled to the number 1 highest scoring midfielder in the game and ranks first for xG (10.6).
Man Utd are in tremendous attacking form and have netted the most since the restart (18). Rashford’s record at Old Trafford has also been superb having found the net in every fixture since October.
This, along with United’s impressive seasonal home record of 38 goals (5th), bodes well for a potential differential captain option this week.
United are also ranked 2nd to score more than 2.5 goals and given that he is a midfielder, Rashford can certainly rival Haaland this week.
Harry Kane
- Fixtures: West Ham (H)
- Anytime goal: 44%
- Anytime return: 58%
Harry Kane (£11.8m) has gone under the radar due to the mind-blowing goal-scoring season Haaland is having.
Kane has 17 goals (0.7 per 90), with 15 being non-penalty goals.
He has the third-highest xG in the league (14.6), taking the most shots overall (81), including the most on target too (36).
Kane has an impressive home record against the Hammers. In the past 3 seasons, he has 6 goal contributions – 3 goals and 3 assists.
Following his entry into the prestigious ‘200 club’ his confidence will be sky high.
He has now become the 2nd highest scoring player in the game (150), and if you are looking to gain rank then Kane could be a good captain choice for GW24.
Riyad Mahrez
- Fixtures: Nottingham Forest (a)
- Anytime goal: 31%
- Anytime return: 50%
Riyad Mahrez (£7.8m) is in great form of late, scoring 52 points in the last 6 gameweeks.
The Algerian has 5 goals and 6 assists, getting 0.8 attacking returns per 90 (6th most).
Per 90, he has the second most goal-creating actions (5.6) as well as the most goal-creating actions (1.1).
He is great value at his price point and is currently the 2nd best Man City asset to own, based on form. He has registered an xG (4.8) and created 25 chances with an xA of 3.39.
It’s worth noting that with Mahrez having started both games in DGW23 so he could be potentially rotated in GW24.
City have a Champions League fixture the following Wednesday against RB Leipzig, which should be considered.
