FPL GW4 of the 2022/23 campaign is just around the corner, with it being the first of three matchdays in the matter of eight days.
Captain picks create a lot of debates and conversations, and this gameweek proves no different.
All 5 of our selected captains for GW4 returned last time out.
Interestingly, it was actually Mohamed Salah who came out on top, despite Liverpool’s poor showing at Old Trafford.
- Fixture: Bournemouth (H)
- Anytime goal: 60%
- Anytime return: 73%
- Predicted points: 8.4
Liverpool have only picked up two points out of 9 so far this campaign but with a home fixture against Bournemouth in GW4, it’s hard to look past the Egyptian for this week’s captaincy.
Salah has scored eight goals, alongside an assist in his six league appearances against Saturday’s opponents.
This statistically, is one of Salah’s favourite opponents to play against.
Additionally, Bournemouth have conceded in their last two league matches.
His appeal for this week’s captaincy is bolstered by his predicted points which astonishingly comes out a whole two points higher than 2nd place.
Simply put, if you have Salah, captain him in GW4.
Erling Haaland/Kevin De Bruyne
- Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)
- Anytime goal: 67% / 35%
- Anytime return: 74% / 60%
- Predicted points: 6.4 / 6.2
Next in line, is the City duo, who’ve had great starts to their fantasy campaigns.
Both Haaland and De Bruyne are the only City players, to have registered attacking returns in each of their first three fixtures.
Despite just the one return in each of his last two league games, Haaland is statistically unlucky to not have had more returns to his name.
The Norwegian has the highest combined xG and xA with 4.6, which is more than any other player.
Meanwhile, De Bruyne is the most transferred-in player out of any player priced above £10.0m ahead of GW4.
Since the previous deadline, more than 230,000 FPL managers have acquired the Belgian services.
Furthermore, De Bruyne’s recent home form is cemented as one of the best in the league.
He has not blanked at the Etihad since GW25 last season, which ended as a 3-2 defeat to Spurs.
- Fixture: Fulham (H)
- Anytime goal: 54%
- Anytime return: 61%
- Predicted points: 6.0
Arsenal’s number nine has had a fantastic start to FPL 2022/23, consolidating his 19-point GW2 return with an assist away at Bournemouth, last weekend.
However, with a 82% TSB, not much ground may be made up for fantasy managers unless the armband is on him.
According to managers ranked inside the top 10k, 55% of managers did captain him for their trip to Bournemouth.
And with another favourable match, at home to Fulham, it presents a great opportunity to back him as captain and for him to deliver.
- Fixture: Nottingham Forest (a)
- Anytime goal: 49%
- Anytime return: 60%
- Predicted points: 5.4
Last, but not least, is the record-breaking Tottenham goalscorer.
With 185 club goals, he is now the player with the most Premier Leaue goals scored by a player with one club.
If he scores against Forest, he will even create more history. Should he do so, it will be the 30th side of a possible 30 he has scored against in the Premier League.
Kane is also striding early in the campaign, having scored back-to-back headed goals in as many gameweeks.
There are better captaincy options on paper for GW4 but Kane could prove to be an interesting differential choice.
