Who are the best FPL Captains – GW25

With the midweek chaos in GW24 having been over and done with, it’s now time to bring our attention to Double Gameweek 25.

Although it might look as it is a regular game week with ten games, two sides in Manchester United and Brighton both have a double. Check out our best FPL captain page for a list of all viable captains.

Cristiano Ronaldo/Bruno Fernandes

  • Chances of scoring: 48% and 46% / 35% and 32%
  • vs: Southampton (H) and Brighton (H)

With doubles, come doubling the opportunity in producing attacking returns. In this case, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes are the most attractive options.

Manchester’s marquee man in Ronaldo is in ripe shape and is expected to start, having been rotated in United’s GW24 clash away to Burnley, which ended being 1-1. His starting chances are marked at 90%.

Ronaldo’s three of his four double-digit returns have come from home matches this season. The opening of his double sets a good platform for him to add to it. The Saints haven’t kept a cleansheet since Gameweek 13.

Bruno Fernandes on the other hand has boded well against these opponents in the past. The Portuguese playmaker feasted in United’s corresponding 9-0 win over the Saints last season.

Bruno managed to accrue 17-points, which included two assists and a goal. Furthermore, United’s number 18, has never blanked against Brighton in his career.

Another aspect that appeals to the boost in each of them is the fact both of them can take on penalties. However, after Ronaldo’s miss against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, it remains uncertain who will be the next taker from the spot.

Mohamed Salah

  • vs: Burnley (A)
  • Chances of scoring: 55%

Salah is fresh and seems eager for his first league start since the AFCON has come to a conclusion. The Egyptian was benched and came on for thirty minutes in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Leicester City in GW24.

This too is a gameweek for managers to get ahead of the curve and have as a point of difference, before his inevitable rush in transfers-in, prior to Liverpool’s enticing double in DGW26.

From his first 17 league games this campaign, Burnley was the only side Salah managed to blank against.

Interestingly, Mo’s record against the side in Lancashire isn’t one of his finest. The FPL top points-scorer overall, has managed just one goal from his seven league appearances against the Clarets.

Harry Kane

  • vs: Wolves (H)
  • Chances of scoring: 47%

Tottenham’s talisman is in promising form too and worth considering, after his surge of goalscoring form returning. And, the stats back it up.

Kane has scored four goals and provided an assist from his last seven games in all competitions. He has too, scored a goal in each of his possible starts against Wolves at home in the league.

Although Wolves have been hard to break down defensively in recent times, their last few games has shown a contrast in fortunes. Bruno Lage’s men have managed to concede in each of their last three league games.

Given Wolves long-term defensive prowess and the fact Man Utd have the aforementioned double gameweek, Kane will be somewhat of a differential captain.
