With just five gameweeks to go in the 2021/22 FPL season, captain picks are as important as ever.
Just the two teams have a double for GW34, due to Chelsea progressing to the FA Cup final. This has meant the reschedule for their away match against Man United. Consequently, Man Utd have a double too.
For all of the latest on the upcoming double gameweeks for the remainder of the campaign, see our double gameweek schedule guide.
If this was a single gameweek, Salah, Son/Kane or a Man City attacker would be in favour of the armband, because of all of their decent fixtures. However, it’s the players with a double who understandably feature.

- Arsenal (a) & Chelsea (H)
- Chances of scoring: 61%
The ageless Ronaldo opens the discussion once again. In his last league start, he managed a hat-trick for the Reds against bottom-placed Norwich City, in a 3-2 win. This was the 37-year-old’s second club hat-trick for the season.
In addition, his recent encounter against Arsenal shows an encouraging form-line. He scored a brace in their reverse fixture in December. This too, ended as a 3-2 win for united.
Another favoriting factor in backing United’s talisman is he does have both penalties and free kicks.
Arsenal and Chelsea are far from appealing fixtures but with a 61% chance of scoring in at least one of them, he is statistically the best captain option.
- Everton (H)
- Chances of scoring: 59%
Another close contender is the now reverted in-form Egyptian, who is having a major say in the title race. And nothing comes bigger, than his local derby.
It’s safe to say too, Salah was back to his best last gameweek, clinching 19-points against Man United in their 4-0 win over them at Anfield. This was his first double-digit haul since GW26 against Leeds.
In addition, his record in this fixture is another aspect to be encouraged about. Salah scored a brace in their 4-1 away win at Everton back in December.
In their 21 league matches, Everton has kept just four clean sheets.
- West Ham United (H) & Man United (a)
- Chances of scoring: 46%
From the blue corner of London, the Cobham youth prodigy is another worth putting the captaincy on. Despite his current form being the best of any Chelsea player, his record in the reverse fixtures portrays what he is capable of.
Mount chalked a goal and an assist in their 3-2 defeat at West Ham back in December. This does mean, his recent record favours his way.
Furthermore, he is ranked fifth for most points scored of fantasy player in the last six gameweeks, with 44 points.
He too is inside the top 10 for xA (expected assists) with an amount of 5.95.
- Arsenal (a) & Chelsea (H)
- Chances of scoring: 44%
Last but not least, is another DGW cult figure from Manchester. Although he may play better without Ronaldo statistically, he can haul at any time.
Bruno was also part of the scoring action in December against Arsenal, being the other goalscorer in their 3-2 triumph.
Similar to Mount, Bruno is too ranked high for expected assists (xA),with a metric of 8.53.
In the two of his three doubles this season, he has delivered. The only gameweek where he didn’t, was last DGW33.
