Who is the Best Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6 Captain?

We’ve had a very exciting opening to the Fantasy Premier League season, with last season’s top four all making good starts in the title race.

As FPL GW6 approaches there are several in form players for these clubs that are dominating in the early fixtures, making them ideal candidates for captaincy. The four best options for GW6 are as follows.

For additional captaincy options and stats, check out our Best FPL Captain page.

Cristiano Ronaldo

  • Chances of scoring: 58%
  • vs Aston Villa (H)

After scoring in every game for United so far, Ronaldo is already top of the attacking stats. CR7 has three goals in the league, averaging 1.5 goals per 90, the best average in the league.

His non-penalty xG is 2.5, the highest, and per 90 it is 1.27, also the highest. Taking 6.5 shots per 90, more than any other player, as well as 3.5 on target per 90, more than anyone else too. He’s clearly in a league of his own.

Additionally, Manchester United have beaten Villa in four of their last 5 meetings and haven’t lost to them since 2009. It would be no surprise to anyone if he scored yet again.

Mohamed Salah

  • Chances of scoring: 50%
  • vs Brentford (a)

Salah has four goals and is the joint top scorer, averaging 0.8 goals per 90 (5th most). The Egyptian has two assists too, averaging 1.2 returns per 90. He has scored one penalty this campaign but still has the 8th best npxG (2.3).

Last season he scored 22 times, however this term he’s improved his creativity. He registered 6 assists last season, whilst he already has three this campaign. Also, he’s supplied 13 key passes and 29 shot-creating actions (second most).

Sadio Mane

  • Chances of scoring: 39%
  • vs Brentford (a)

Another Liverpool asset with captain potential is Sadio Mane. The winger has three goals, only one less than Salah, but has a higher npxG than his teammate (4.5). Plus, he’s taken 25 shots overall, the most in the league, averaging 5 per 90, only Ronaldo has averaged more.

Not only that, but he’s a huge differential, being owned by just 3% of players despite scoring 21 points in the last three gameweeks. In contrast to Salah, who is 57% owned, Mane is evidently just as likely to return as his teammate but is cheaper and could boost your rank massively if he hauls.

Michail Antonio

  • Chances of scoring: 38%
  • vs Leeds (a)

Together with Salah, Antonio is a joint top scorer, scoring four so far and averaging just over one goal per 90. Along with that he has three assists, meaning he gets 1.77 returns per 90, the most in the league.

He’s a real danger in front of goal, taking 4.3 shots per 90 and contributing 1.26 goal-creating actions per 90 too. West Ham have scored 10 with Antonio on the pitch, with him being involved in 7 of them.

Facing Leeds in GW6, he could haul again, as they are vulnerable in defence. They’ve conceded 12 goals and are allowing 23.5 shots in home games this season, the overall most.
