Who is the Best Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 7 Captain?

With FPL GW7 just round the corner there are several big hitters that are stand out candidates for the armband early on.

Most managers will be torn between either Lukaku or Ronaldo for GW7, and if you’re lucky enough to have both in your team, this should help with the decision.

Romelu Lukaku

  • Chances of scoring: 56%
  • vs Southampton (H)

Lukaku has made an immediate impact at the Bridge, scoring three times already. He also has the a non-penalty xG of 2.4 (9th highest) and is averaging 0.6 goals per 90. In all competitions he has four goals in 6, so is well in form.

The Belgian has a great run of fixtures from GW7 onwards, starting with Southampton. They’ve faced 12 big chances this season and Lukaku will fancy his chances of getting on the score sheet in front of a home crowd.

Cristiano Ronaldo

  • Chances of scoring: 43%
  • vs Everton (H)

Ronaldo is averaging a goal every game in the league and has the highest npxG per 90 (0.9). He’s averaging the most shots per 90 (5.67) and the most shots on target per 90 (2.33).

The striker is the master of the penalty area, taking the most shots in the box per 90 as well (4.33). In GW7 he faces Everton, who have only kept two clean sheets this season and conceded three in their last away game, against Villa.

He looks set to be a constant captaincy option, showing no signs of slowing down with age.

Michail Antonio

  • Chances of scoring: 40%
  • vs Brentford (H)

After yet another goal, coming in stoppage time against Leeds, Antonio is again a considerable choice for captaincy. That goal took his tally for the season to 5 and he still remains the joint top scorer.

He has the third highest npxG (3.3), taking the second most shots per 90 (4.85). As well as his goalscoring exploits, he also has three assists and has produced 6 goal-creating actions, averaging 1.21 per 90.

His opponents Brentford have looked solid at the back so far, but West Ham have been strong in attack, taking 16.2 shots per game, which is the fourth highest in the league. For another week at least, he makes a good differential captain.

Mohamed Salah

  • Chances of scoring: 38%
  • vs Manchester City (H)

Salah is also joint top scorer alongside Antonio, with 5 goals, averaging 0.83 per 90 (fifth most). He has been potent in attack as ever, holding the second highest xG (4.1), taking four shots per 90 (fifth most) and has the most on target (11).

Along with his goal threat, he has two assists too, which means he averages 1.17 attacking returns per 90. He’s also made 14 key passes, 33 shot-creating actions and four goal-creating actions.

Many will be hesitant to captain anyone playing Manchester City, but Salah has an impressive record against them, scoring 6 in 12 meetings with them. He scored in a tough game versus Chelsea in GW3, so he may well do so again in GW7.
