FPL Gameweek 22 Preview – Tips, Fixtures, Stats – 20/21

If you thought the last Gameweek came around fast, be prepared for this one. Gameweek 22 starts on Tuesday, and don’t get caught out with the 16:30 deadline.

Mo Salah and Patrick Bamford found their shooting boots at the weekend as they both broke their bad run in front of goal and picked up the joint highest Fantasy Premier League points of the Gameweek.

Sheffield United vs West Brom

Sheffield United couldn’t manage a second giant slaying in a row at the weekend and they lost 1-0 away at Manchester City. The Blades still sit bottom of the league with the lowest goals scored total.

In Gameweek 22, the bottom two face each other as West Brom visit Sheffield United. The Baggies picked up a point against Fulham with the game ending 2-2. £5.6m midfielder, Matheus Pereira picked up a goal and an assist to make it four goals in the last four games. He is a great differential option with just 1.8% of FPL managers owning him and he’s currently averaging 8.2 points per game – the highest from any player.

Wolves vs Arsenal

The struggle to get goals continued for Wolves as they lost 1-0 away at Crystal Palace. This took them to eight Premier League games without a win as they continue to sink without striker, Raul Jimenez.

One team on the opposite end of the form table is Arsenal. The Gunners are undefeated in seven Premier League games and they’ve picked up five clean sheets in this time. Defender, Rob Holding picked up eight FPL points in their goalless draw with Man United. The £4.5m centre back is owned by just 5.6% FPL managers and is averaging 6.4 points per game.

Man United vs Southampton

Manchester United were held to a 0-0 draw against in form Arsenal at the weekend. This was, however, their third clean sheet in the last five games. The problem at the minute appears to be in attack as United have only scored four goals in this time.

In Gameweek 22, The Red Devils host Southampton at Old Trafford. With absentees in their defensive line, Southampton have struggled to keep clean sheets recently. The Saints now have three league defeats in a row following their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace

Newcastle United picked up a much-needed 2-0 win against Everton at the weekend. Callum Wilson was back on the scoresheet as his brace took him up to ten Premier League goals and earned him 13 FPL points in the process.

Crystal Palace come up against Newcastle midweek and they too picked up a good win in their last game. Palace beat Wolves 1-0 with Eberechi Eze scoring the only goal of the game. The forward picked up 11 points just as The Eagles go into a good run of Premier League fixtures.

Burnley vs Man City

  • Home Win: 6%

Burnley couldn’t make it three wins in a row at the weekend, as they lost 2-0 to Chelsea. The defeat sees them sit eight points above the drop zone. They face top of the league, Manchester City, in Gameweek 22.

Manchester City marched on with an eighth consecutive league win, this time it was 1-0 against Sheffield United. This was also a fifth Clean Sheet in a row for The Citizens. Centre back, Ruben Dias, picked up eight FPL points as he is now averaging 6.8 points per game.

Fulham vs Leicester

  • Home Win: 22%

Fulham managed just a point against fellow bottom three side, West Brom. Aleksandar Mitrovic returned to the starting XI for Fulham and picked up an assist in the 2-2 draw. The striker was also awarded two bonus points for his performance.

Leicester City head to London to face Fulham in Gameweek 22 after they stumbled on their race for the top four. Leeds inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Leicester which ended a run of seven games undefeated. Harvey Barnes scored the only goal for The Foxes which took him up to seven Premier League goals this season. The forward has two goals and two assists from the last four games, and he is only owned by 7.5% of FPL managers.

Leeds vs Everton

  • Home Win: 39%

Leeds United made it back to back victories as they beat Leicester 3-1 away. Patrick Bamford picked up 15 FPL points after scoring one and assisting the other two goals. The striker now has 11 goals and seven assists this season.

Everton head to Elland Road in Gameweek 22 after their disappointing defeat to Newcastle. Dominic Calvert-Lewin blanked in front of goal once again. His last goal came in Gameweek 11.

Aston Villa vs West Ham

  • Home Win: 45%

Aston Villa are coming off a good 1-0 win against Southampton. Jack Grealish provided his 11th assist of the season to win the game. Goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, picked up his tenth clean sheet of the season. His ten FPL points last week put him top of the point list for goalkeepers.

Villa are up against West Ham midweek and The Hammers will be hoping to bounce back after losing to Liverpool 3-1. West Ham scored another goal from a set piece and it was Craig Dawson who found the back of the net for a second week in a row. The £4.5m defender has two goals and three clean sheets from six games, since signing.

Liverpool vs Brighton

  • Home Win: 73%

Liverpool look closer to their best again after back to back victories. Mo Salah starred in the 3-1 win over West Ham as he scored two goals and earned 15 FPL points. The Egyptian is the league’s top scorer so far, with 15 goals.

Brighton provided the shock of the week last time round as they won 1-0 against Tottenham. The Seagulls are undefeated in three Premier League games and £4.4m goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, picked up his third clean sheet in a row.

Tottenham vs Chelsea

Tottenham’s first game without injured striker, Harry Kane, did not go to plan as they failed to score and lost 1-0 to Brighton. With back to back defeats, expect plenty of rotation in the starting XI from manager, Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho will take on his old side, Chelsea, in Gameweek 22. Thomas Tuchel got his first win as Chelsea boss at the weekend as they won 2-0 against Burnley. Defender Antonio Rudiger appears to have won his place back in the starting XI and he is now an FPL bargain. At £4.5m and with just an ownership of 1.2%, he has three clean sheets from the last four games.
