Gameweek 23 Preview
We will be previewing each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek throughout the season. Team fixtures, captain choices and which players to transfer in/out will all be discussed. Here is our FPL Gameweek 23 preview.
Gameweek 23 Fixtures
Fantasy Premier League returns after a brief hiatus for the FA Cup. Gameweek 23’s biggest game comes in the form of Liverpool vs Man City. Despite being at Anfield, Man City go into the understandable favorites. Even though Liverpool have bolstered their defence in January it seems likely both teams will have success attacking in this fixture. Man Utd probably have the easiest fixture on paper with a home match against Stoke. Marh Hughes has recently been sacked and with them conceding 5 in each of their most recent trips to Wembley and Stamford Bridge this could be a sign of things to come. Tottenham and Chelsea themselves face respective home fixtures against Everton and Leicester. Neither of these fixtures are considered as easy as the Stoke fixture right now but both Chelsea and Tottenham will be expecting the win. The final team from the top 6, Arsenal, travel to Bournemouth. Arsenal have taken 13 points from 15 available in recent fixtures against Bournemouth. They will need to take another three for the sake of their Champions League aspirations. Crystal Palace and Watford also face home fixtures that FPL managers will consider an opportunity for points.
Gameweek 23 Captain Choice
With Tottenham at home against a team outside the top 6 we can’t look past Harry Kane for our Gameweek 23 captain choice.
Harry Kane disappointed many FPL managers in his Double Gameweek in Gameweek 22. He scored just three points after being rested on the bench for Tottenham’s visit to Swansea. Previous to that though he did score 17 points in each of Gameweek 20 and 21.
Eden Hazard’s performances continue not to be reflected in his FPL points. He scored his first double digit points haul since Gameweek 15 in Gameweek 22. A home fixture to Leicester certainly presents the opportunity for Eden Hazard to get another double digit points haul. However, it should be noted that he has completed the 90 minutes twice in the last 9 Gameweeks.
Romelu Lukaku is available to play after suffering a head injury against Southampton. Man Utd hosting Stoke is a fixture someone like Romelu Lukaku would be eyeing as a chance to score a couple of goals. Form isn’t in his favor however. He has scored just twice, with 0 assists, in his last 8 Premier League appearances.
Players In and Players Out
Here are the top 5 players you should be transferring in and out of your team prior to the Gameweek 23 deadline. If you expect a player to go down after a given Gameweek it is wise to transfer him out early to avoid the likely price decrease. Likewise it is sensible to transfer in a player early that you believe will go up in price before the deadline. These top 5 are based on potential price changes, fixtures and general form. We will also try and offer players from different teams.
