Gameweek 25 Review
Gameweek 25 produced an average team score of 47 points. Harry Kane was once again the most picked captain. He has now been picked most for 9 out of the last 11 Gameweeks. He didn’t score any points in Gameweek 25 however despite his side beating Man Utd 2-0. Sergio Aguero was the most transferred in player after his hat-trick against Newcastle. He scored a last minute goal in Man City’s 3-0 victory over West Brom to the relief of those FPL managers. The top performing player for Gameweek 25 was Sam Clucas. His two goals resulted in a 15 point haul. Theo Walcott also got 15 points after his two goals.
Swansea Do It Again
Swansea upset a top 6 team for the second Gameweek running. This time the recipients were Arsenal, who took a 3-1 loss. Swansea’s Sam Clucas was the star of the show, scoring twice. He also scored against Arsenal in the first fixture. Jordan Ayew scored the other goal which means he has now scored 4 goals in the last 8 Gameweeks. Swansea are now off the bottom of the table whilst Arsenal are 8 points off the Champions League places in sixth.
Man City Create More Space
A win for Man City and a loss for Man Utd means the blue side of Manchester are now 15 points clear at the top. Their latest victory came against West Brom. The goals came from Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero. Raheem Sterling contributed two assists. Naturally FPL points have come throughout the Man City team but it is Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne who sit 2nd and 3rd respectively in the overall FPL scoring table.
Chelsea Upset by Bournemouth at Home
Undoubtedly the biggest shock of Gameweek 25 was Bournemouth beating Chelsea 3-0 away. Chelsea had their chances but it was Bournemouth who were by far the more clinical. Former Chelsea player Nathan Ake was Bournemouth’s highest points scorer with 14 after his goal and clean sheet. Junior Stanislas and Callum Wilson got 12 points each after both of them got a goal and an assist. The result does keep Chelsea in 4th but only two points ahead of Tottenham. Unfortunately for Chelsea fans they now have three of their next four fixtures away including trips to Man Utd and Man City.
Tottenham Outclass Man Utd
Tottenham put on a dominant performance against Man Utd which saw them remain in Champions League contention. The match included the third fastest ever Premier League goal courtesy of Christian Eriksen. This gave him a 10 point return. It was Kieran Trippier who took home the most points however, his clean sheet and assist got him 12. It wasn’t a good fixture for the nearly 20% of FPL managers who owned Phil Jones. His own goal and yellow card got him -2 points for the week. New signing Alexis Sanchez marked his Man Utd Premier League debut with 2 points and Marouane Fellaini was substituted substitute after playing just 6 minutes.
