Gameweek 27 Review
Gameweek 27 produced the highest scoring Gameweek so far. The average points scored was 61. Mohamed Salah was the most captained player and he rewarded those who did captain him with a goal and an assist. Despite an away fixture against Tottenham, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was the most transferred in player for Gameweek 27. However, he only scored two points after being substituted on the 64th minute. The top performing player for Gameweek 27 was Sergio Aguero. Even with top performances from Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard, they were unable to compete with Sergio Aguero’s four goals against Leicester.
Tottenham Kings of North London
Tottenham were favorites going into the North London Derby and their 1-0 victory proved this was justified. Arsenal could have leveled at the end but it would have been an unfair reflection of the balance of the game. Harry Kane unsurprisingly was the man who got the winner. It was Ben Davies however who took home the most points. His clean sheet and assist gave him a Gameweek 27 score of 12 points.
Chelsea Break Losing Streak
Chelsea broke a two game losing stream in convincing fashion against bottom of the table West Brom. It was Eden Hazard who spearheaded Chelsea to victory following two terrific goals. He returned 16 points for the Gameweek. Chelsea’s other goal came from Victor Moses whose clean sheet and goal gave him 12 points. Chelsea are currently clinging on to the Champions League places, sitting in forth spot. They face arguably the two most difficult Premier League fixtures in their next two games. They travel to Man Utd and then Man City.
Man City Score More Goals
It appeared Leicester travelled to the Etihad to give Man City a competitive game. It looked as if it might be when Jamie Vardy equalised in the first half following Raheem Sterling’s opening goal. However, it wasn’t to be and from that point Sergio Aguero scored an incredible four goals to give Man City a deserved 5-1 win. They now sit 16 points clear at the top of the table. Their next two fixtures are against Arsenal away and Chelsea at home.
Newcastle Finally Beat Man Utd at Home
It has been well documented that Newcastle’s home record against Man Utd is poor. They finally beat Man Utd at home in Gameweek 27 for the first time since 2002. The victory came courtesy of a second half Matt Ritchie winner. The result itself moves Newcastle up to 13th whilst Man Utd cling on to second by just two points.
