FPL Gameweek 27 Preview – Tips, Fixtures, Stats – 20/21

A huge Double Gameweek completed and now we move on to what seems to be a mini Double Gameweek, as Man City and Southampton play twice in Gameweek 27.

The last Gameweek saw some teams get drawn closer into a relegation battle while Manchester City move head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

As always, we look at each Premier League teams’ percentage chance of winning, the most likely goalscorers and where to find those clean sheets.

  • Away Win: 60%

Burnley came out of their double Gameweek with one point after losing 4-0 to Tottenham and drawing 1-1 with Leicester City. Matej Vydra scored the only goal of the last Gameweek for the Clarets as he continues to cover for their injured strikers.

In Gameweek 27, Burnley host Arsenal at Turf Moor. The Gunners came out with a valuable away 3-1 win at Leicester last week. Midfielder, Nicolas Pepe, registered 12 FPL points after his goal and assist. This was Pepe’s third goal in his last six appearances.

Although Sheffield United lost 2-0 to Liverpool in their first match, they ended their double Gameweek with a great 1-0 victory over Aston Villa. Striker, David McGoldrick, netted his sixth goal of the season as the Blades try to keep their Premier League survival hopes alive.

With just one point from the previous eight league games, Southampton continued their poor run of form by losing 1-0 to Everton. The Saints have the worst form in the league and this week they play the team with the second worst form. Southampton will see their game against Sheffield United as a key opportunity to get back on track.

Goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, earned his 13th clean sheet of the season and gathered 12 more FPL points in the process.

Aston Villa face Wolves in a local derby in Gameweek 27. Wolves picked up just one point in their double Gameweek by drawing with Newcastle and losing to Manchester City. £5.1m midfielder, Ruben Neves, now has three goals from the last six games after finding the back of the net against Newcastle.

Brighton vs Leicester

Brighton came out on the losing end of a controversial game with West Brom last week. Brighton fans will be disappointed with decisions made by the officials but they will also be disappointed with their team’s performance in front of goal. Once again, the Seagulls missed big chances, including two penalties, and the game ended 1-0 to their opponents.

Leicester City head to Brighton in Gameweek 27 after a disappointing double Gameweek left them with just one point from two games. With James Maddison missing in both and Harvey Barnes missing in the second game, Leicester struggled to replicate their recent form. There are still doubts about the English duo’s fitness, ahead of their match with Brighton.

West Brom will hope to close their gap on safety as they face 17th placed Newcastle United in Gameweek 27. The Magpies couldn’t hold out for a win against Wolves and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Captain, Jamaal Lascelles, has completed 90 minutes for a third game in a row after injury setbacks. The £4.2m defender picked up 10 points after scoring Newcastle’s goal after Wolves.

Liverpool grabbed an away win against Sheffield United before losing a fifth successive home match. With their title hopes all but gone, the Reds hopes of a Champions League spot are in question now too. The champions must reignite their previously outstanding home form and they will see this Gameweek 27 fixture as a big opportunity to do so.

Fulham go to Anfield this week to take on the reigning champions, Liverpool. The Cottagers drew against Crystal Palace 0-0 but then lost their five-game unbeaten run as they were beaten by Tottenham in their second match of the last Gameweek. Centre-back, Joachim Andersen, has four clean sheets over the last six games. At £4.5m and with just 0.2% ownership, Andersen is now averaging 5.0 points per game based on form.

Gameweek 27 will hopefully bring a thrilling Manchester derby as City host United. The visitors are coming off a dull double Gameweek where both games ended in a 0-0 draw. This was, however, the ninth and tenth clean sheet for the Red Devils this season. Although we hope for an entertaining showdown this weekend, the return fixture between the two Manchester sides also ended goalless.

Tottenham host fellow Londoners, Crystal Palace, in Gameweek 27. Palace picked up two 0-0 draws last week as they kept out both Fulham and Manchester United from scoring. Gary Cahill picked up two bonus points in both games, as well as the clean sheets. This left Cahill, who is owned by just 0.2% of FPL teams, on 16 points for the Gameweek.

Everton continue to push for a top four spot after back-to-back victories in their double Gameweek. Both matches ended 1-0 to the Toffees with Richarlison scoring the only goal in either fixture. The Brazilian striker has scored a goal in each of the last four Premier League games and still has a low ownership of 8.1%. In Gameweek 27, Everton take on fellow top four hopefuls, Chelsea.

West Ham have been in great form recently, but they couldn’t contain title-chasing Man City last week and fell to a 2-1 defeat. One positive for the Hammers is the form of their new signing, Jesse Lingard. Priced at £6.0m and owned by just 4.8% of FPL managers, the midfielder is now averaging 7.8 points per game, after his assist against City.

Leeds United head to the London Stadium to take on West Ham this weekend. In typical Leeds fashion, they followed a previous victory up with a defeat the following week. It was Aston Villa who beat Leeds 1-0.
