Gameweek 28 Preview
We will be previewing each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek throughout the season. Team fixtures, captain choices and which players to transfer in/out will all be discussed. Here is our FPL Gameweek 28 preview.
Gameweek 28 Fixtures
Gameweek 28 offers a full compliment of fixtures after Man City were knocked out the FA Cup by Wigan. They travel to London to face Arsenal in a rare Thursday night game. This game will come off the back of their Carabao Cup final match, also against Arsenal. The subsequent Premier League game could be an open affair so despite being away Man City attackers could well produce the points. The best fixture for points on paper in Gameweek 28 is Liverpool vs West Ham. Liverpool are 1/4 on to win the game and therefore we can expect a good Gameweek for Liverpool’s front three. The second best fixture on paper is Crystal Palace vs Tottenham. This should result in a lot of people captaining Harry Kane for Gameweek 28. Elsewhere, Chelsea host Man Utd which will frustrate FPL managers who have both teams featured heavily in their FPL teams. Jose Mourinho likes to make these big games tight affairs so this could suit defences on both teams. Outside the top 6 Leicester and West Brom have the best fixtures. Leicester host 19th placed Stoke whilst bottom of the table West Brom will be desperate for a win against 17th placed Huddersfield.
Gameweek 28 Captain Choice
A tough between Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah for Gameweek 28 but we’ve gone with the Tottenham man for our captain choice.
Tottenham face an away fixture at Crystal Palace for Gameweek 28. Harry Kane has scored 5 goals in his last 5 league games and the bookmakers think he will score again as he is 8/11 to do so. He is currently owned by 44% of FPL managers – expect the majority of those to captain him.
Liverpool probably have the most attractive fixture of Gameweek 28. Naturally this makes Mohamed Salah one of the best captain choices. He is coming off 15 and 13 point hauls in his last two Gameweeks. Interestingly the bookmakers have Mohamed Salah as a more likely goalscorer than Harry Kane.
For those that don’t have Mohamed Salah or just fancy a different pick, Roberto Firmino is a top option. The Brazilian has scored three in his last 5 matches. All of Liverpool’s best players will be expected to start as they have a weeks break in between their next two fixtures. This means there isn’t as much need to consider potential squad rotation.
Now the Wigan Man City FA Cup match ended in a result that was not a draw (a shock Wigan victory) we now know the Arsenal Man City match will go ahead in Gameweek 28. Despite the setback against Wigan it wouldn’t be surprising to see Man City take their FA Cup frustrations out on Arsenal. Sergio Aguero has scored 9 goals in his last 6 league games.
Players In and Players Out
Here are the top 5 players you should be transferring in and out of your team prior to the Gameweek 28 deadline. If you expect a player to go down after a given Gameweek it is wise to transfer him out early to avoid the likely price decrease. Likewise it is sensible to transfer in a player early that you believe will go up in price before the deadline. These top 5 are based on potential price changes, fixtures and general form. We will also try and offer players from different teams.
