Gameweek 30 Preview
We will be previewing each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek throughout the season. Team fixtures, captain choices and which players to transfer in/out will all be discussed. Here is our FPL Gameweek 30 preview.
Gameweek 30 Fixtures
Gameweek 30 is the last Gameweek before the potentially game changing Gameweek 31 which consists of blank fixtures. The stand out fixture of Gameweek 30 on paper is Chelsea vs Crystal Palace. Both teams are in somewhat of a crisis. Chelsea have lost four of their last 5, whilst Crystal Palace have lost their last three. Nonetheless Antonio Conte will be gunning for a comprehensive victory to keep Chelsea in the race for the Champions League places and to ease pressure on his own position. Champions elect Man City, travel to Stoke who have just four points in their last 5 games. Despite being away FPL managers will be expecting high point returns for their Man City players. The red side of Manchester have a much more difficult fixture, they host Liverpool. The winner of these games is always tricky to predict but with Liverpool’s attacking threat we expect Jose Mourinho to try and keep it tight. Elsewhere, Arsenal host Watford. Watford have one of the better away records in the Premier League but have been conceding an average of 1.5 goals away from home. Arsenal players aren’t popular picks right now in Fantasy Premier League but for those who do have them there is a chance of good point returns. Sitting in third place, Tottenham travel south to Bournemouth. They will look to recover from their Champions League disappoint with a victory that could go a long way to getting them into next season’s Champions League.
Gameweek 30 Captain Choice
There is no clear captain choice for the Gameweek 30 captaincy. Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Eden Hazard we believe are the three best captain choices this week, with not much separating them. With that said we are going to go with what on paper is the best fixture and go with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Chelsea’s form has been poor in recent games but with the exception of Man City, this hasn’t shown in Eden Hazard’s play. He is Chelsea’s most certain starter when they host Crystal Palace and he has averaged over 8 points per Gameweek over the last 6.
An away fixture to Bournemouth isn’t the ideal time to captain a player. However, Harry Kane is a viable captain choice against almost any team. He failed to score in Gameweek 29 against Huddersfield but did score in the three Gameweeks previous to that.
Similar to Harry Kane, an away trip to Stoke probably won’t deter the FPL managers that wish to captain Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian doesn’t offer too much discrimination when it comes to home and away goals. Combine that with the fact he is in good form and was benched the Champions League game in midweek there is more than enough justification to captain him.
Players In and Players Out
Here are the top 5 players you should be transferring in and out of your team prior to the Gameweek 30 deadline. If you expect a player to go down after a given Gameweek it is wise to transfer him out early to avoid the likely price decrease. Likewise it is sensible to transfer in a player early that you believe will go up in price before the deadline. These top 5 are based on potential price changes, fixtures and general form. We will also try and offer players from different teams.
