Gameweek 34 Preview
We will be previewing each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek throughout the season. Team fixtures, captain choices and which players to transfer in/out will all be discussed. Here is our FPL Gameweek 34 preview.
Gameweek 34 Fixtures
Gameweek 34 is of vital importance as it is a Double Gameweek for a lot of teams. Top 6 teams, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all have just one fixture which will disappoint owners of their players. Moreover, the latter, champions-elect Man City face a tough fixture away to Tottenham. In comparison Tottenham have this fixture as well as a trip to Brighton. This will result in Tottenham players being popular picks for Gameweek 34. The team with arguably the best Double Gameweek fixtures is Man Utd, however. They’re at home to bottom of the table West Brom and travel south to face Bournemouth. Leicester also boast two similar level fixtures. They face a struggling and relegation threatened Southampton and Burnley away. The other team which face a Double Gameweek that doesn’t include any top 6 teams is Chelsea. Like Leicester, they face both Southampton and Burnley as well. The only difference being they face Southampton away. Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley and Southampton complete the teams with Double Gameweek fixtures.
Gameweek 34 Captain Choice
Naturally your Gameweek 34 captain should be a player who has a Double Gameweek. There are a few good options that fill this criteria and we have decided to go with Romelu Lukaku.
Man Utd’s number 9 offers a few good reasons why he is an excellent captain choice for this Double Gameweek. Firstly, Man Utd face attractive fixture in the form of West Brom (H) and Bournemouth (a). Secondly, unlike alternative options, Romelu Lukaku is as likely to play 90 minutes as anyone. Lastly, his form itself has been an improvement over the last several games. He has contributed three goals and two assists in his last 5 Gameweeks.
With the upcoming fixtures Jamie Vardy is a must for your FPL team. His Gameweek 34 fixtures are against Burnley (a) and Southampton (H). His form could result in him being a surprisingly popular captain pick for this week. He has scored 7 goals in his last 9 Gameweeks. Beyond Gameweek 34 he faces home fixtures against Crystal Palace and West Ham, although he does have a blank in Gameweek 35.
Eden Hazard’s form has been inconsistent over the course of the season and this has been reflected in his sporadic FPL point scoring. This has resulted in him only being picked by a current 7.3% of FPL managers. Because of this picking him as captain for this big Double Gameweek is certainly a risk. However, if you are in need of points to chase a deficit then he may be a risk worth taking. Both his fixtures are away but against favorable teams – Southampton and Burnley.
Anytime Tottenham have a Double Gameweek, Harry Kane has to be a consideration for captain. He is back after a short term injury and arguably scored in his first 90 minutes since then. Tottenham face Man City (H) and Brighton (a) which may deter some FPL managers when comparing to other teams with a Double Gameweek. However, Harry Kane’s record speaks for itself and will therefore be a popular and justifiable captain pick for Gameweek 34.
Players In and Players Out
Here are the top 5 players you should be transferring in and out of your team prior to the Gameweek 34 deadline. We will also try and offer players from different teams.
