Gameweek 4 Preview
We will be previewing each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek throughout the season. Team fixtures, captain choices and which players to transfer in/out will all be discussed. Here is our FPL Gameweek 4 preview.
Gameweek 4 Fixtures
The easiest fixture on paper in Gameweek 4 is Arsenal at home to Bournemouth. Given Arsenal’s current situation however FPL managers won’t consider this as great of a points scoring opportunity as normal. Man Utd travel to Stoke in a game they will expect to win. Stoke have been known to give Man Utd tough games over the years so a tight affair could minimise FPL returns here. Furthermore they have only conceded two Premier League goals so far this season. Leicester host Chelsea and whilst the latter will be favourites Leicester are looking far more resilient this season. Another tight game could ensue. Liverpool and Man City are both teams that are expected to score an abundance of FPL points. They meet at the Etihad in a game that has the potential to produce several goals. In a Gameweek full of tight fixtures Tottenham also travel to Everton. Similar to Leicester vs Chelsea, Tottenham will be favourites but only just. Elsewhere West Ham will be looking to bounce back from a horrific start to the season against the in form Huddersfield. West Ham sit at the bottom of the table with 0 points whilst Huddersfield have accrued 7 points out of 9.
Gameweek 4 Captain Choice
There is no stand out captain this week and our selection is closely contested among Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Javier Hernandez. We recommend going with Alexis Sanchez though due to the reasons highlighted below.
Alexis Sanchez
If Arsenal were at home to Bournemouth last season this would be a no-brainer. However, Arsenal appear to be in some level of turmoil and Alexis Sanchez has been wrapped up in strong transfer speculation. These two factors certainly detract from his profitability as captain. Even with this being said though we are selecting him for our Gameweek 4 captain. Bournemouth have yet to get a point this season and have only scored once in the process. Moreover with Olivier Giroud likely to start on the bench, Alexis Sanchez should assume the role of penalty taker.
Romelu Lukaku
Romleu Lukaku let down a lot of FPL managers in Gameweek 3 with his total of 0 points after a missed penalty. This may cost him Man Utd’s next penalty also, which is something to think about long-term. Nonetheless Man Utd have scored 10 goals in their first three Premier League games and as a result we can’t put it past them scoring a few away to Stoke. This alone provides justification to captain Romelu Lukaku. It should also be noted he scored four goals in two games whilst on international duty with Belgium. Three of these goals did come against Gibraltar however.
Javier Hernandez
West Ham will be looking to register their first win of the season against the over-performing Huddersfield. Javier Hernandez has been looking sharp since his arrival and will be West Ham’s primary goal threat. He has scored two goals in three games thus far. Despite West Ham’s form he will be a popular captain pick this week.
Harry Kane
It has been widely publicised Harry Kane doesn’t like scoring in August. If you believe that is a real factor then the good news is we’re now in September. Since September’s arrival he has registered two goals on international duty. Everton away is never an attractive fixture but due to Harry Kane’s impeccable Premier League record, and that he is on penalties, he will still be captained by some FPL managers.
Players In and Players Out
Here are the top 5 players you should be transferring in and out of your team prior to the Gameweek 4 deadline. If you expect a player to go down after a given Gameweek it is wise to transfer him out early to avoid the likely price decrease. Likewise it is sensible to transfer in a player early that you believe will go up in price before the deadline. These top 5 are based on potential price changes, fixtures and general form. We will also try and offer players from different teams.

- Chancel Mbemba
- Wilfried Bony
- Alvaro Morata
- Harry Kane
- Javier Hernandez
Players Out
