Swansea Players to Pick for FPL

Given their relegation prospects Swansea’s players won’t be highly picked. As a result of their indifferent form last season only three of their players surpassed the 100 point mark.

Swansea Defence

Paul Clement looks to have a favoured back four. This will consist of Alfie Mawson (£5.0m) and Federico Fernandez (£4.5m). The former scored four Premier League goals last season so will offer the chance for additional points. At left back will be the £5.0m priced Martin OlssonKyle Naughton (£4.5m) will be favoured to start at right back ahead of Angel Rangel. The latter is priced at £4.0m which may go some way to explaining why he is picked by 21.5% of FPL managers. Our indications are he will be behind Kyle Naughton in the Swansea pecking order which makes his high pick percentage baffling.

Swansea Midfielders

New signing Roque Mesa (£4.5m) will have been expected to slot in the defensive midfield role. However, he was dropped for Leon Britton (£4.5m) in Swansea’s last pre-season game. The other two central midfielders will most likely be Leroy Fer (£5.5m) and Tom Carroll (£4.5m). The former scored the third most Premier League goals for Swansea last season with 6. Consequently he could be the best differential pick in the Swansea mifdfield. Further forward Gylfi Sigurdsson has been given a much justified price increase to £8.5m. However, he would not be a sensible pick right now due to his ongoing transfer speculation. Even so he may well start the opening game due to his importance to Swansea. Wide man Wayne Routledge (£5.5m) could start wide in the front three especially if Gylfi Sigurdsson is absent.

Swansea Forwards

With the £7.5m priced Fernando Llorente set to miss the opening game with a broken arm, Tammy Abraham (£5.5m) could prove to be a FPL bargain. He has scored three goals in pre-season and will be set to lead the Swansea front line all the time Fernando Llorente is unavailable. Jordan Ayew (£5.0m) can play in the number 9 role or out wide of a front three. He could also start if Gylfi Sigurdsson doesn’t play.
