Gameweek 18 Tips

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek Tips

Gameweek 18 is the first of four Gameweeks over the next two weeks. The Christmas period will be a busy time for Fantasy Premier League managers. Here we focus on all things Gameweek 18 including fixture difficulty and captain options. For further fixture analysis check out our Fixture Difficulty Analysis.

FPL Gameweek 18 Tips

Gameweek 17 was slightly down on the average score only producing 43 points per team. The most transferred in player was Felipe Anderson. A somewhat outside pick but given his 24 points in the previous three Gameweeks it wasn’t too surprising. The most captained player was predictable. Harry Kane at home to Burnley left FPL managers who own the England captain little choice. He did however only produce a late assist to salvage those who relied on him. Finally, the star player was Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He had only played 45 minutes in each of the three previous games. Two goals against Southampton, albeit in defeat, ensured a 14 point haul for the Armenian.

Gameweek 18 Captain Choice

Gameweek 18 provides a particularly tough week for captain choices. A combination of equal difficulty and certain names being rotation risks has resulted in a week where a lot of captains could be named.

Man City vs Crystal Palace is the obvious lead fixture. Even with Arsenal hosting Burnley. However, Sergio Aguero isn’t certain to start, and the same can be said for Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

Naturally the alternative is the Arsenal Burnley match. Of course front men, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Aubameyang are the primary contenders. The former is probably the more likely starter.

Then, usual contenders, Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah, are once again options. They face Leicester at home and Wolves away respectively. Despite Salah being away from home, both have almost identical odds to score.

Finally, there is Harry Kane. A tricky fixture away to Everton will understandably deter some FPL managers. However, the second most expensive player in FPL is still close to 50% to score.
