Shockingly Man Utd actually accrued more points away from home than at home. The only other team to achieve this last season was Crystal Palace. At home they only scored 26 goals which for a Man Utd team is almost unthinkable. It is hard to believe this will be repeated this season. On a positive note however, Man Utd did have the third best away form. They won over 50% of their games with only Chelsea losing less games away from home.

Man Utd Players to Pick for FPL
In recent seasons Man Utd players haven’t accrued as many FPL points as expected. This is evidenced by the fact that last season only a handful of Man Utd players broke the 100 FPL point mark. However, Mourinho has made three big signings and will now expect last season’s signings to start performing better also. The formation Mourinho will utilise is also unclear. He has been known to use a 4231 and 433. However, he has also experimented with 352. We won’t know for his preferred formation until Premier League kick off.
Man Utd Defence
Man Utd have a plethora of defensive options available. Other than the £6.5m Antonio Valencia none are guaranteed to start the opening Premier League fixture. New signing Victor Lindelof, who is a very reasonable £5.5m, is probably favourite to start in the centre of defence. Not far behind him will be Eric Bailly (£5.5m) and Chris Smalling (£5.5m). The other option in the centre is Phil Jones (£5.0m) but right now his chances of starting would certainly not warrant selection. Daley Blind (£5.5m) and Matteo Darmian (£5.5m) will be competing for the left back slot. There is also a slim possibility Mourinho utilises wing backs which would result in three central defenders and the right/left back becoming more of an attacking threat.
Man Utd Midfielders
Paul Pogba is the most picked Man Utd midfielder at 22.5%. This high pick percentage is due to his enticing £8.0m price tag and the consensus that he under-performed in his first season since returning to Old Trafford. Moreover, there is a chance he could be Man Utd’s first choice penalty taker. Another option that has come to prominence in pre-season is Henrik Mkhitaryan. He has three goals and three assists in Man Utd’s pre-season games. His £8.0m price tag may result in some FPL managers choosing him as a differential pick. Other attacking Man Utd midfield options include Anthony Martial who is also priced £8.0m. However, his uncertainty to start will limit his FPL popularity. Juan Mata (£7.0m) is in a similar boat to Anthony Martial. The rest of the Man Utd midfield, Nemanja Matic (£5.0m), Ander Herrera (£5.5m) and Michael Carrick (£4.5m), are too defensive to really consider as FPL options.
Man Utd Forwards
Romelu Lukaku is the most picked player in Fantasy Premier League at 48.6%. Spearheading the Man Utd attack and his 221 FPL points, comprised of 25 goals and 6 assists, will have been the main factors behind this. He is priced £11.5m which surprised many who thought he might be more expensive. Furthermore, it will either be him or Paul Pogba taking penalties. Man Utd’s only other listed forward is Marcus Rashford (£7.5m) who is Man Utd’s equal top scorer in pre-season. It is possible, albeit unlikely, he could start in the number 9 role ahead of Romelu Lukaku but far more likely will be he starts on the left of the three attacking midfielders.
